knmlketing, The,annual meeting of the Masterton District Licensing Bench was held in tbe old Courthouse at noon to-day (Monday), there being present Messrs J, Carpenter, J, Montgomery, T. Gardner, and W. Blinkhsrne, Mr John Mobtgomery was elected Chairman. The minutes of the previous jneeting were read and confirmed, X, The application of Mr 0. E "Osborne for a renewal otitis license for the Mulsmyo Hotel was considered, the police report being fav ourable. Mr W. Blinkhorne thought the post office should be removed from the. bar. Sergeant MoArdle, in answer to the Clerk, stated tbnt there had Abeen no objection to the mails boing delivered in the hotel, Mr Blinkhorne slated that he had promised to bring the matter before tbe Bench, as he had heard complaints about children having to go in to tho bnr to get their letters and Bee drunken men,
Sergeant McArdle pointed out that Mr OBborne had' once given up the. mails, but had been requested to accapt the position of Postmaster again by the Government. Mr Osborne, who was present, stated that lie was quite prepared to give up the mails if the Bench so doBirod, There bad been no drunken jj men about his plaoe, and had language 'ft was not used. He would like to know from Mr Blinkltorne.jvho had complained, Mrßlinkhornedidnotwish to go any further into the matter, He would not furnish names. Mr Gardner moved that the application for a renewal of the license be granted on conditions that, the Post Office be adjusted m the police' think necessary; should complaints be made, 1 Afrßlinkhorrie seconded.—Carried.
