"SCENE" IN A CHURCH.

A remarkable scene' was witnessed in a Trinity Ohurcb, 'Reformed ■% Oburoh of England,'. Southland, oneSunday in April. The Rev, A. Waller was some time ago appointed curate to' Bißhop' Greg, the inoumbent, but the latter became inßano, and his place wes temporarily filled by Mr. Waller. The inoumbenoy was afterwards given to. the Rev. Charles Snoswswell, who on the Saturday in- * : formed Mr Waller that bis servicea were, no longer required. Notwithstanding this, Mr Waller appeared in the church on Sunday morning, and when the new incumbent began reading the Morning Service the curate did the same in a loud voice. One of the 'Churchwardens approached Mr Waller, and told him that unless'he desisted he would be arresteaLfor *, brawling. Mr Waller,' (iuued, and two police sergeants were fetohod to remove him, He maintained an animated altercation with tho officors,. who finally seized him and marched Mm down the aielo to the oliurch door, bareheaded and Burpliced, carrying a book in one hand and his hat in the oilier, The prisoner walked down High Street to the police station between two constables, followed by a large orowd of people. Mr Waller remained in custody until . after the Evening Service, wnen ho was liberated on bail. ■
