Both prisoners Acquitted ] (By Telegraph.—Press Association,) Wellington,' Friday, Smith and Harrison have both been acquitted on the charge of hav* ing murdered John«s Dalton, , at Eketahnna." Later, Mr Jellicoe addressed the jury (or over four, hours, ■ after; which; His Honor summed up, reviewing the evidence At considerable length, The jury then retired, and returned at 9,45 with a verdict of" Not guilty,' 1 The announcement of the verdict was received with some' applause in Court, which was immediately suppressed, The prisoner was then discharged. Mr Gully, Crown' Prosecutor, then said that in the case of the Queen v. Harrison,' the Crown wißhed to enter a nolk prosequi. Mr ; Ooates, who was engaged for Harrison's defence, said he would ; prefer to have a jury empanelled, and , the prisoner formally acquitted.
