Anniversary Tea at Greytown
" Wesleyctn Church. The anniversary tea meeting of tho Uptown Church was held in the schoolroom last evening, at which a large number from all parts were present. An' excellent spread was provided,, to which full justice was doiie. Several ladies of the church officiated as waitresses, and curried out jheir duties in a manner which reflected great credit upon them, After. the wants of the inner man wVre. supplied the company adjourned totlie church, where a very pleasant evening was spent, Several pretty anihems were rendered by the choir, arid addresses given by the Bevs 0, Murray (Presbyterian), Dukes (V7es~ leyan), and T. B. Mac Lean (Episcopaiean), and Mr B. McGregor, who has just arrived from. Christohurch, and is to officiate as assistant in the South Wairarapa district, A quartette (with chorus) by Mra H. Haw'ke, Miss'Baillie, Messrs E Hawkeand H. Udy, junr,, and a solo by Mr McGregor added much to the evening's enjoyment. •:. During the course of the meeting
it was proposed that the different denominations unite in organising evangelistic services in the Wairarapa. The Eev, W. Bowse (Chairman) stated that duriog the fast year .£34 was oolleoted for tho Loan Fund, and the debt last December was only £BO, which he hoped to be enabled to pay off shortly. He also intimated that a social would be held, this evening, when lie would like to see a largo ga%jjig present, A vote of thanks proposed by Mr 1!. Udy to tbose ladies and gontlemen who had so kindly assisted in provide itig the tea, and one proposed by Mr J. Wilkie to tho choir and speakers concluded the meeting.
