As tho horses were of a very superior quality, the attendance was consequently large and unusual interest was manifested, A chestnut mare by Kelvin, dam Bess by Napoleon, was the first offered, and oxcited keen interest, and the bidding, whiob started at forty guineas, speedily rose, until she was knocked down to Dr Hosking at 72 guineas. This is a price which cannot be considered high, as she is only six years old and is the winner often first and champion prizes at the Timaru, Ashburton, and Ohristchurok shows. Mr A.Fraser seourcd the next lot, a useful draught mure, six years, by Prince Royal, for thirty pounds, Then came a pair of two-year-old fillies by Lord Salisbury and Vanquisher, respectively, which were secured by Dr Hosking for sixty pounds.
