SAD BURNING FATLITY.
/I Child's Clothes Take Fire.
News wbb brought to Masterton yesterday of a sad fatality, which bus occurred at Bangitumau, 'some few miles distant. It appears that on Tuesday last, Mrs Mncdonald, wife of Mt'R.B, Macdonald, farmer, went out in the morning to milk, and left her two children, ugt|d three and five years, sitting on the hob by tho fireside, She had not long been gone when she heard tho screams of one of the children, and running, to the house discovered that the clothes of the younger child were on fire, The child was quickly diveflted of its Clothing, but pot before it had been fearfully burned about tho back, A mess«nger wss at once sent for Dr Hoskino, who lost no timo in making his way to the scene of the accident, but on his he found that the injuries sustained by the little one were so severe that all that could bo dono was to try and alleviate its sufferings, The child lingered in agony for somo time, but passed away at an early hour yesterday morning, It is not thought an inquest will bo necessary.
