OUR VOLUNTEERS.
The fortnightly parade of the Mas. terton Rifle Volunteers was held in the Drill Hall last (Thursday) evening, thirty-three, rank and file, answering to the roll oall. Captain Pownall was in command and inspected the men, who were afterwards put through their facings by SergeantMajor Finn and Lieuts. Hooper and Malcolm, At the conclusion of the parade a meeting was held, when it , war decided to hold the annual ball July 14th,
There is some talk of forming a Cavalry Corps in Masterton, There are a large nnmberof old cavalrymen in the district, and many young men who are good horsemen, A cavalry corps should therefore be well supported, ' ■
