A meeting of the Pahiatua County Lieej|sing Bench was field on day. Present—Messrs A, W. (Chairman), J. Dawson, A. Tuckey, C, H, Hamilton and A, Yule, There w6. e six applications before the Bench as follows;—<J, M. Kicbardson for renewal of license<to Dudley Arms Hotel; J. O'Neill for rehewal of license to Makiiri Hotel; W, Bowden for new license for a house at Makaltahi; C. Benzie for new license for a house at Mangatninoka; A: ' Oleghorn for now license for a hfljiae at Scarborough ; J; Murphy lor new license for

a house at Ballance. EvidetlOG in all he oasea (except |n Mr Murphy's, in which oase the, applicant did not appear in support), was taken, and the j decision of the Bench was given at 6 p.m. The Chairman then intimated that no new licenses would be granted; as the Bench considered the, houses unnecessary, and cised the police report in re?-,/ peot of the conduct ot the Dudley Arms Hotel for the past year com* paredwith the report presented last quarter. The two reports correspond for the'space of time covered jointly byeach, and needed explanation by the Inspector, who WM now absent at the Supreme Court in Wellington.,
