'* The Terranora, a paddle wheel Bleamer, formerly engaged in the cattle trade on the West Coast but now lying-up at Waitara, has been engaged by the Government to repair the broken cables, and the orew were sent up toiday. Dr Lemon hopes to be able to make a start with bard work by the 16th, and if the weather: holds good ho believos hecanoffedt the repairs in tm days. The three wire cable which is broken close in shore could be joined up in a couple of days, but the other will take longer. He is sanguine that with lair weather one cable, at nil events, can be re* paired before Parliament The date of re-opening communication, however, is entirely dependent on the weather. If iheTerranora is found as suitable as expeoled, she will probably be permanently fitted with a picking-up apparatus for oable works. If not, she will be used as a coal hulk. The price paid for her is not made public, but it is understood she was ' acquired cheaply;
