HOWARD'S DIGGING PLOUGH.
A Public Trial,
i An exhibition trial of Howard's i digging ploughs, -which are now f largely 'in u3e in the Colony, was 1 • made at the farm of Mr A. A. Elkins, . Masterton, to-day. A largo number of settlers were present, who displayed ' great interest in the exhibition, wbjeh 1 was made under the supervisioifflpf '. Mr W, J. florrell, the New ZeaWj l ! i representative of Messrs J. and 0. l Howard, Sydney. Tho horses, whioh t were liindly supplied by Mr W. B. ; Buick, of the Opaki, did their work I well, The principal parts of the i Howard' digging plough are the ; patent metal mould boards and re- : veraible share points, The mould 1 boards are chilled three parts through and soft at the back, having a face : like glass steel, ordinary boards being 1 found, useless;,-Ten yeare' ' careful• experi'meptipglj'as produced this board ; which will;: clean in any land, The skim coulters consist of malleable frames 'and patent metal mouldboards and shares; they completely bury "all rubbish. . The shin piece acts as a coulter and is bolted to the board, The shares for these ploughs •-- are fitted ( with ' rcversib!e"'ppihi» of' two kinds, each being made, in four ' different kinds of metal, viz j cast chilled, malleable, 'cast steel and forged steel.'; The cast points can be replaced at the trifling cost of Od. ftrj pressors, 1 ; or tail pieces, bolted/oojg the end of the monldboards, can be "' : raised and lowered ■' according to the style of;, work required.': Digging attachments can be put on to any ordinary;plough and Bo'corivert an .Old, worn-out plough to: a digging. plough.
