About a dozen gentlemen assembled at the premises of the Masterton Blacksmith and Wheelwright Manufacturing Company on Saturday evening to tike ff j lesson from Professor Theo Lichtwark, the renowned horse tamer, A young unbroken colt, which the owner, Mr &, Fraser, had not been able to manage, was brought to the Professor for treatment. At first the animal resented all interference and'poßitiyoly refused to be handled, but in an extraordinary short space of time its fierineus was turned to docility; its wild timidity to calm obedi ence, The system adopted by the Professor is undoubtedly a proper one, his gmitle and firm persuasive treatment being simply irresistible. The nature of tbe horse operated on on Saturday night was in two hours completely changed. The process of transformation was a gradual one, but it was nevertheless sure. Tbe method adopted is simplicity itself, and anyone can undertake with ease all that wai done by the Professor, It is to be regretted that a larger number of our farmers wero not present at Saturday's class, for the information imparted was really valuablo. Not only was the possibility of breaking-in a horse in two hours revealed by ooular demonstra - tion, but it Wfls shown how simple it is to prevent jibbing, to make it easy to catah a horse in a thousand acre paddock, to mounta "buok-jumper' 1 without fear, and to undertake many things which in tho past have appeared to be feats of daring. The Professor loaves for the Lower Valloy to-day, but returns on Friday, when he will giye another class of instruction and teach his pupils how to break a horse to harness.
