Petition to the Priuy Council. . WhSa Pitg'l ■ (united press association.) Melbourne, May 17. Mr Lyle has petitioned the Governor to grant a respite for a week in Deeming's case to enable an appeal to he made to the Privy Council. Air Lyle informed the Governor that the appeal reached London on Friday last. The condemned iman ia breaking down under the close confinement. May 18.'. The authorities have decided not to allow Deeming's brain to be examined, and it will be buried witli the body.
