Pensioning of King Tawhiao. [By Telegraph.—Press Association.] Auckland, Monday. The Hon, MrCadman, after several .interviews with King Tawhiao, induced him to accept a pension from the Civil List of L 225 per annum. Tawhiao has received his first quarter's | payment, He will not now offer eny , opposition to his people proving their claims in the Native Land Court and will urge upon them the olservs , anceof the law, This may be regarded , ns the last stand of the King move- | ment, Tawhiao becoming a pi 'sioner , of the Government, Tawhiao re- , ceived much more temptingoffers from Sir Donald McLean, Sir George ] Grey, the Hon, John Bryce, and ■ other Native Ministers. '.
