THE SHEEP-STEALING CASE.
Another Remand, (By Telkqraph.—Our Own Owmimuknt.) Carterton, Saturday, Harry W. Kempton was charged on remand yesterday with stealing seven ■ teen sheep, the property of James Stevens. Evidence for the prosecution was given by William Booth, junr., James Stevens, Henry Potts, Ellen Goodwin, Constable Eccleton and John Strang, Mr Acheson, for the accusad, main* tained that a prim facie case had not been made out, The Bench decided that there was no occasion for-Mr Beard to address the Court, as it considered .here was quite sufficient evidence to commit the accused, Mr Acheson then applied for. a re» tnand to enable him to bring rebutting evidence on behalf of bis client, After some consultation tbe remand Was granted till Monday next at 3 p,m. The accused waa allowed bail od the same terms as before, viz,, himself in £IOO and two sureties of £IOO each,
