COMMERCIAL.
Mr F.H. Wood held bin usual fortnightly stock snle at tlio Taratahi yardß yesterday, and reports of the i same as follows Considerably more stook was yarded than advertised. Thoro was a good attendance of buyers 7 from all parts of tho district, Cattle are steadily increasing in value, but . sheep remain at about tlio same as at last sale. Tho following prices were realized Sheep: Store wethers, ! 10/4; flit do, 13/4; owes in lamb, 5/- lo 8/-; store ewes, 6/8 ; lambs in the wool, 6/• to 8/-; do shorn, 9/«. Cattle: Calves, 22/- to 41/»; yew. lings steers and heifer.', 41/- to 46/6 ; 60/- to 66/-; storo cows, 45/- to 801) dairy cows, 60/- to 70/-. 'i'hero . was no demand for horses although several good hacks came forward. The bidding for cattle was spirited throughout but sheep drugged heavily. Two or three lines which Were passed in at the sale subsequently sold privately.
