Experienced managers with a thorough knowledge of local requirements are indis. pensible for the efficient conduct of the business, and for keeping good saleable > clean stooks, It is necessary to know in what markets at what seasons, and in what quantities to buy their requirements. It is of evcu greater ' importance to know how, where, and when to exportor otherwise dispose of the produce 1 to the best advantage, But the real dillicuk ties of all such institutions is tho' beginning ; for they must have capital at command, and liavo such financial arrangements, not only in the Colony, but in tho various markets of the world, "as will inspire tho utmost confidence to enable it to build up a first-olass credit and good name, and thus transact business on rook bottom ■ limits, . The profits of the Association after payment ot expenses will belong to, and be distributed amongst the shareholders, It is at present proposed after payment to shareholders of a dividend of 7 per cent upon amount of paid up capital to. divide part of the balance o! the profits amongst the shareholders, according to.the amount of business done by each, and a bonus to employees, and to cany part to a Reserve Fund for the equalisation of dividends, and for the distinct object of starting or ■ investing in Btich local industries in tho district, as will provo conducive to the welfare of the shareholders, employ labour, and promote tho wealth; and population, of; the district, The Association will wherever suflicienlmduccinent is offered by settlers and others, and subject to the consent of the shareholdorß, endeavour to ally iratlf, o amalgamate, with similar institutions, and thus by sharing the cost of management and conduct of business, reduce expenses and enlarge its sphere of usefulness. This is far irom being a speculative ooncern, 'lhe businesses of the vendors have been carried on successfully for the last twenty-tivo years; and the promoters have such confidence in the futuro of the Association that they are prepared, so long as Mr Ca6elbc.g is allowed a controlling voice in the management of the conoerii as heretofore, to guarantee a dividend of not less than 6 per cent for the next five years, It should be plainly understood that the promoters do not oesire now, nor in the future, to take out their capital, but to cany on the business on the new lines with Mr Caselberg at the head of affairs, assisted by all the presout staff, many of whom have been know to !F OU lor tll ° laßt flfteen Disinterested experts will be employed to certify that stooks have been taken at ahBO luto cost, und all bad or old atuok has been reduced to tho market value or taken away altogether. If no allotment is mado the deposit will be returned without deduction, and where the number of shares allotted is less than the number applied for, surplus will be credited in reduotion of the amount payable on allotmeut.
