A Diabolical Outrage.

How it was Managed. Paris in a state of Panic.

Pabis, April 26. The restaurant kept by M. Very, who was the chief witness against Kavaohol, the Anarohist leader, has been wrecked by dynamite. The place was the scene of Eavachol's arrest, hence the outrage. Very was found amid the ruins of the building, with his legs smashed. He was tuken to » hospital, where bis limbs were found to be bo mangled that they had to be amputated, but the poor fellow did riot~ Burvive the operation. Four other inmates of the restaurant, including Very'B twelve-year-old granddaughter, were also severely injured, and wore removed to the hospital, The bomb was placed in the cellar of the building Many people who happened to be passing the restaurant at the time the explosion occurred were injured by the'falling debris. Three arrests have already been made in connection with the outrage. . The terrible affair had Buch an effect on Very's wife thai; she has completely lost horreason.''" Troops are guarding the streets in the city, as it is feared the Anarchists may attempt similar outrages in other quarters.

It is understood that the explosion was intended to overawe the jury in the trial of Ravachol's four accomplices, which begins to-day. The police authorities have taken extra precautions to preserve order, during the trial.

Further arrests of Anarchists have taken place in Paris and other Continental cities.

M. Very still survives, though et first it was reported that he had died from tho shook of amputation. Three men were arrested on sus« picion, but afterwards released. Lherot, a waiter, states thai three men and three women, after dining, left suddenly, the men depositing a parcel under the table, and holding a match underneath it, as if to evade the vapour from the lucifer. Lherot was one of the men threatened with death if Ravaohol were sentenced. He was Buspected of giving information which led to Kavachol's arrest.

Very's restaurant was completely shattered in the lower story, but the upper did not suffer. This outrage has tlirown the city into a state of panic, and many residents are clearing out. Very is reported to be sinking.

26th April, A strong body of anti-Anarchists was massed round the Court to : day when the trial came on. All who 'entered were searched before they were allowed to go inside. - Ravaohol was attired with great cave, and maintained a defiant attic tude. He admitted the possession of money, and the murder of a hermit aged 92, The explosions were caused in revenge for their comrades, but he was sorry that innocent viotims had been involved.

Eavaehol expounded the' aims oi Anarobieta at length, but the Magistrate was unable to make him reveal where the dynamite is bidden,
