The Nlasterton School.
The annual meeting of householders in the Masterton School district was held in tho Solioolhouse at Kurupuni last (Monday) evening, about fifty TOOjjjj bejpg present,. Prangueli and J. Williams. As the number of candidates did not exceed the number of vacancies, the Chairman deolared those nominated to be duly elected, amidst applause. ... ... ... '•'*. ... Mr Easthope * explained that tho Committee had done all in its power to iisve the meeting held in the Theatre, but the Education Board-had given instructions that. it. should take place in the schoolhouse, He would move that this meeting expresses its entire disapproval s the action of the Board in fixing the meeting to be held in the sohoolhouse; and that they be requested in future to fix it for a more convenient place. Mr J. Prentico seconded. . The Roy B. Wood asked' if place ot meeting was fixed by the Act or by the Education Board. The Chairman read a message from the Education Board on the subject. ■"
Mr Beard said it was competent for the Board to fix any place they desired for the meeting,
-The resolution was then put and carried unanimously, and tho meeting adjourned with it vote of thanks to the Chairman. .
ANNUAL COMMITTEE MEETING. At a meeting of the newly-elected Committee afterwards held, Mr E. Feist was unanimously eleoted Chairman for the ensuing year.
. The Chairman expressed his plea*sure at the good sense displayed by the householders in the annual meeting, aud tho despatch with which the business had been transacted.
The standing orders of the past year «ere adopted and Mr Beard was appointed vifliting - member for ihe ensuing month. ..V > The meeting then adjourned. OTHER SCHOOLS. Ferkridge,—Messrß D, McGregor (Chairman), W.' Osborne, I, Sykes, G, 0, Sage, T. Wilton, H. Dagg and A, Stempa. > Kketahuna,—The following householders were elected to the school Committee Messrs T. Baylies (reelected Chairman), F, Dowsett, J. Cooper, F. D. Pelting, J. Jones, B, Syverston and N. Neilson. The othe nominations were Messrs Tooh il Dawson and Maunsell. Only .three of the former Committee stood, two being re elected. ...Tesui - A. T. Hancock (Chairman, re-elected), A. Southey, F. W, Groves, H, Belliss, H. Newcombe, A, J, Speedy, and E. Mason. Pamatua,—J. Vile (Chairman, re" eleoted), G. Moore, A. Black, D. G. Fraser.lY, J. Reeve, W, Bogle, and H. H. Godfrey. The only other candidate was H. Benzie.
