SERIOUS SHOOTING ACCIDENT.

Soportoi Fatality. ,'* jf Nbwb reached Maßterton late last night of a serious shooting acoident at Wainuioru in the Gladstone distriot, it is feared that George York, aged fourteen years and a half, aon of Mr W. j£j. F. York, of Maaterton, has lost his life thereby. Youne York and a lad named Simpson (the latter is the son of Mr George Simpson, a farmer at VVaiDuiora and was slightly the older by a few months) went out "pig 'shooting on Friday afternoon. By some means an accident occurred—precisely how has not yet been ascertained—bub its result was that Mr York's son received a fearful wound in the stomach, The first intelligence reaohed the father (who is employed at Mr Muir's, wheelWright) at eleven o'olock on Friday ;v=ft night, and although it was not definitely <tt| stated that the boy was dead, Mr York York received the distinct impression that such was the case. Prompt steps were taken, and the injured lad—it is unfortunately more likely to have been hiadesdbody, but the messenger did riot ,'., aotually disclose that—was carrieAßor some miles by Mr Thomas' Turnerand two Natives, to a place which was accesbible for a conveyanoo, . and it is expected that tie victim will be brought on to Maaterton this afternoon. Since word was received of the occurrence, Constable May has gone out to Wainuioru and will take any steps necessary, or render any assistance he can.
