Wood reports of the < Stock Sale held by him yesterday at the Taratahi. yards as follows: —Con- ■,:! siderably more stook was yarded than had been advertised, and the attendance of buyers was good, The prices realised for sheep were about equal to last sale rates, but cattle were in better demand and showed an advance on previous sales, Several pens of sheep were passed in, but all the cattle sold readily under the hammer. The following is a quotation of prices obtained .—Sheep: Lambs 6/- to 7/6, store ewes, suitable for breeding, 7/6 to 9/1, culled ewea 5/8 to 6/6, fat ewes 10/• to 11/-. Cattle: Calves 25/- to 80/-, yearlings 82/6, 2 year old steers 65/- to 62/6, do, heifers 40/* to 52/6,8 year old steers 87/6, year old heifers 66/6, dairy cons i 60/- to 100/-, store do 40/- to 50/-. . g Figs: Berkshire boars, young 22/6 I to 80/-. Oats: For bandy lines there is a good enquiry, but no improvement in price. Short plump feed are worth 2s, Tartarian and ordinary feed Is Od. Grass Seeds; . The demand is aasying somewhat. ' Cooksfootiß still in excess of require* ments and is difficult to place at from 2Jdtoß|d, Byegrass is worth for South Island, 4s 8d to 4s Gd. Poverty Bay maintains its value at 6s 6d. Potatoes: Derwents are worth 40s to 42s 6d, Eidndy sorts are somewhat negleoted. Oaten Sheaf Chaff: If really bright and good is worth 65s with a good enquiry. Discoloured is diffioult to place. Flour: Roller is nominally worth £l2 for sacks, Stone made £1 per ton less. Cheese: Dairy make of good quality, 4dto4sdfor ordinary size; small loaf up to 5d for prime. Butter: Dairy make, fresh, BJd to 9d,
