Accused Promises to Astonish too World. . Melbourne, April 5. The inquest on' Mrs Williams (nie Mather) was resumed to-day, 81 'witnesses being examined, principally for purposes"of identification of the deoeused, The person who sold Deeming the cement fully identified the accused, Mr Max Hirsohfeldt, a fellow* passenger by the Kaiser Wilbelm, and who proceeded with the Melbourne deteotives to identify Williams, deposed that the prisoner had said that if convicted of the Windsor murder he would write suoh a story of his life (ib would astonish the world. During the hearing of the evidence there was a large number of ladies present ill Qourt, There is so much interest excited in Engird over the case that fully a column of the proceedings of the inquest have been cabled to the papers there daily, ■. .: -London, April 5. . The poliqe consider tl)at there is not the slightest ground for the renewed stories connecting Deeming i with the Whitechapel murders, or with any event in England between bis departure in 1888 and his return in September, 1889, Many swindles in all parts of tho country ar wrongly attributed to him.
