a Visit to too EMS. Tauranga. Wellington, Friday, The Acting-Governor, accompanied by the Premier and Messrs Reeves and Buckley, paid a visit to the Tanranga this morning, and the ship was cleared for action, the operation taking about twonty minutes. A salute was fired as Sir James Prendergost left the vessel, Customs Rovoauo, Friday. i The Customs Revenue for March was £145,941, against £122,713 for March last year, Auckland contri>. buted £82,310, Wellington £80,920, Christchurch £22,844 and Duiifidin £84,252. The beer duty was £5608, Auckland contributing £1298, Wellington £567, Cl)ristchurch£loSG and Dunedin £l2lO. Tho Customs Revenue for the year amounts to £1,625,174. The estimate was £1,585,000, giving a surplus of £90,174. There h a deficit in the beer duty of £2232. The total reve* nue is £57,768 against an estimate of £60,000. No returns are available yet from other branches, but it is thought that stamps and territorial may bB slightly below the mark. It was hoped the railways would show a surplus of some £IO,OOO, but the continuance of wet weather last month has interfered with the flow of revenne.
