CARTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

', The ordinary monthly .meeting of the above Counoil was hold on Monday, Present: His Worship the ■ Mayor, and Messrs Bayliss, Wakolin, Eai>le, and W. Vickerstafi. The minutes of the previous meeting wero read and confirmedTho Treasurer reported a debit balance at the Dank, and also ruvo account of receipts since lust meeting and statement of unpaid rates, • A letter was read from the North Wairarapa County Council re building a housu for tho and destitute, Mr 0. R. Carter wrote advising that the clock for' the Borough had been duly shipped by the Tongariro on the 4th February, It was resolved that the lamp now opposite Mr Plank's be shifted over to the Council's Chambers, The roadman's report of repairs to roads was received and approved, The Inspector of Nuisances' report (fas received. Tho question of erecting two more lamps at the south end of the Borough was allowed to stand over for a time, Cr Bayliss proposed and Cr Dell.er seconded, that this Council is in favour. of a gcnural meeting of contributing bodies to the charitable aid being held to fully discuss the question of n home for tho,aged and destitute, Some accounts were passed for pay. ment aud the meeting adjourned,
