FATAL ACCIDENT.

Thrown from & Trap.

Tidings of a fatal accident between the Hutt and Petone reached us last night. Full particulars are wanting, but it appears that as Dr Baker, of the Hutt, and Mi Sykee, of Potune, were journeying along tho road between those two places last night they found an elderly lady and a young man lying on the road, having Id evidently been thrown out of their ™ trap. Further examination revealed the fact that the injured persons were Mrs Compton, of Wainui-o-mata,and ber Bon. The former was lying under some timber, which it appeared had fallen from the vehiole at the same time that they were thrown out. She was quite dead, and her son was found to have . sustained severe injuries, Assistance was at ; once procured for Mr Compton, and his injuries were attended to. An impst on the body of Mrs Comptou will be DecGssary, and will probably be held to-day.—N.Z. Times.

[By Telegraph,] Thursday. The woman killed at Petone last night is Mary Sandilands Thompson, aged GB, wife of James Thompson, farmer, of Wainui. The accident happened owing to the son driving off the road and the mother fell under the trap,
