Aiprflsent. put pf t-)ie nine representatives who constitute the Eijupa: tion Board for the Wellington District, there are only three country members, viz,, Messrs Beetham, Buchanan, and McCardle. It is to be hoped, therefore, that then'omination by the Masterton Committee of Mr Edwin Feist for a position on the Board will receive every support at the hands of other country school committees, for the reason,, that on general grounds, they will be strengthening their cause > at head quarters is evident, and especially so when, as at present, they' are deprived of the services of one of j their delegates owing to iMealth, But, on more definite pleas, Mr 1 Feist's fitness for the position can be wisely advocated, Ho has for yearg | past rendered good service on various local bodies, and although he has retired from several positions he still remains a member of the Masterton Borough Council, and iB also Chairman of the Masterton School Committee. Therefore both by experience and by diligent promotion of the common interest in the past, Mr .Feist has very clear qualifications for such a position ag the one whioh it is now sought to confer upon him. But it is really in educational matters that helms shown the greatest application, and with whose wants he is thoroughly conversant; and .everything commoted therewith whioh tends towards improved administration or effeotivo working is certain of Mr Feist's careful consideration and enthusiastic support, for he has tho interests of education thoroughly at heart. Besides posses> sing unimpeachable honesty of pur-.-pose and being absolutely disinterested —both very valuable characteristics in these axe-grinding days—Mr Feist is fortunately situated in one other respect, inasmuch as he has ample time at his disposal for public, duties, and that lie is in every wayjnclipd to place it thoroughly at the service of those bo represents. In all regards, therefore r ®" Bfc '" eminently suited to <»L«» Wellington Education Board, i2 im hope to see him ere long a member of that body. The nominations, we may remark, close on Ist April, and the eleotion follows on lp"tb May, At present the only two nominations are those of Mr W. A. Fitzherbert and Mr B. Feist, and these may be taken to be on the one hand the nominee of the town and on the other of the country. It is therefore to the interests pf education in our district that the latter should be supported, and more especially so as the country rpnre.sentationis numerically weak already,
