Slso rhee&lz Lodgo of 3ooi TompUr* The picnic of the Phcenix Lodge, . 1.0. G.T., held yesterday, was, owing 1 to the weather, not so successful as was anticipated, However, a goodly number of young people rolled up and for two or throe hours amused themselvos in the Drill-hall kindly placed at their disposal by Captain Pownall. The weather clearing up about 8 ojplock, tho party proceeded to Mr ] <|/rigley's paddock, where the usual > r gftmes and amusements were gone intp in a spirited manner, Numerous prjges were competed for in races lor big and small boys and girls. The Weather was against the JBaby Show, and only one competitor faced the Judges. This was Mrs McOuire's I jjttby (a girl), which would have been hard to bpat in any show, for a Beauty Show, eight fair damsels ring, The judging was by ballot of all on the ground. A j young officer of Progress Juvenile Temple carried off the prize, taking fully half of tho votes, Altogether the picnic, if not very largely attended, was exceedingly lively, and all seemed * to thoroughly enjoy themselves, The social and concert in the evening was well attended, Bro W, L, | Johnstone, District Deputy, being in the chair. Musical selections were rendered by Miss Pearson; songs by j Misses Finlayson, Holdaway, Jolly, f and Pinkerton, Masters Jago and fiw|y, apd Messrs Begins, Uole, yiries; 'a very nice irritation by t Jpssi'e Finlayson;' and 'interesting addresses by Messrs Baumber and Budden. Refreshments were handed round during tho ovening, The concert closed with a chorus 1 "God be with you till we meet again," rendered very nicely by the members of the Juvenile Temple.
