BENEVOLENT TRUSTEES.

The monthly meeting of the North Waimapn Boaevolent Society was . held in the Institute Chambers on Thursday, 10th Alaroh. Present:— Messrs E. M. Galloway (Chairman), W. H. Beetham, 8. E. W. Shute, requesting o know when the Trustees meet. From Constable Boache, Ekotahuna, enclosing A. R. Power's ac count (£5) for funeral of Dalton, a destitute person, who was recently murdered.

The credit balance per cash book was reported to bo £27 Is fid, unpresented cheques bringing the total credit up to £B7 5a lid, Tho * balance to credit, petty cash, was £8 2s Bd, Outstanding accounts as per schedule would be presented for pay« roent, amounting to £Bolßs sd. The estimate prepared for the ourrent year was then read, showing the expenditure to the 81st inst. would be £l9O. After considerable disoussion Mr Gapper proposed the following amendment, which was seconded by Mr Dagg, viz,, 11 That pauperism has so rapidly increased during late years that the Trustees are somewhatalarmed, and desire that the matter be brought before the Counties of the Valley with a view to discuss what means would be belter to adopt to oheck or improve the present state of thiugs, and that Messrs Beetham and Stucley (members of the North Wairarapa County Council) bs asked tq jjtjng tlie mattey before' the Coqhcu mth'a view to establish d'n'e District Home, embra'ping the'wlijldpi oi the district, ssy from the take tcr tho Manawatu river."
