ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of tho Mastorton Road Board whb held on Saturday last, there being present Messrs W. H. Beetham (Chairman), Wardell, M'Kenzie and Harris. Tho Olerk read tho report of the election of Mr Harris as a member, and the Gazette notice notifying tho same. The minutes of the previous meek ing were read ant! confirmed. Mr Holstein waited upon the Board to know whether the work of formation on' Northcroft'a road! Was to be proceeded with. Mr Petersen also waited upon the Board, and requested that the bush be cleared for twenty, chains to enable him to get on to his land. It was resolved that notice be Berved on Mr McKenzie to remove the trees which have fallon across tho road from his section, nbout which there have been complaints. Mr Minogue complained that his fence had been damaged by a road contractor, It was resolved that the oontraotof be notified that he will be, held and that he must repair the damage, otherwise tbe Board will effect the neceesary repairs i at his expense. ' . Permission was granted to Mr Mawley to tower a culvert, subject te I the approval of the Engineer, Anaru Harawera appliedfor a road to the property known as Harawera Reserve, Jt was resolved to reply that the matter is under consideration.. Accounts amounting to £l4l 8s 8d were passed for payment, Tho report of the Engineer was read and adopted, t The recommendation for a concession of Gd per chain to the contractor for the Pairau swamp drain was agreed to. , It was decided to write to Peter M'Donald, informing him that he must keep hie pigs off tho road, otherwise he will be liable to proseoution under the Impounding Aot. It was resolved that Mr Oris en,. sen be compelled to carry out his bargain re approach to the Black Creek bridge. The Engineer was authorised to employ a man for twelve days to repair the Upper Opaki road. It was resolyed that a lettor be addressed to the Minister for Lands, urging the necessity for proceeding with the survey of the Weraiti road. It was resolved that tenders for the Kaka-amu Valley road" extension, to ihe extent of funds available, be invited at once. Mr G. H. Welch waited upon the Board and asked what had been done re bis application for metalling on Kohikutu road.—He was iuformed that tenders bad been invited for the work, but none were received. —lt was resolved that Mr Welch make an offer to the Engineer at per chain, and tliat the Board will supplement the balance of tbe loan by the sum of £l2, The sum of £l2 was allotted to Mr W.J.Welch for expenditure under the supervision of tho Board, The meeting then adjourned,
