LAND BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Land Board, whs held on Thursday. Present—Mr J, H. Baker (Commissioner | of Crown Lands in-the chair), Messrs W, A. Fitzherbett,T. W. Fisher,and A.W.Hogg.M.H.R. A schedule was presented showing that the total area of land applied for from the 28th January, 1891, to 24th February, 1802, was 58,569; acres';B roods.Bß perobes,;.the price realised being £41,107 6s lOd, while the sum paid in deposits amounted to £49917 a n'j- ' ;

Tbe Commissioner intimated that Mr R, M'Kerrow had been appointed a Crown Land Banger in the plf.ee of Mr A. R. Maeby, who had.resigned. The following applications to obtain titles-were approved ;-T. Miller, Makuri ;\W. Culling, Mangaone; M, J. Swan, Makuri, L. P, Hansen, Mikuri; R. Shaw, Maiisahao. v

Applications to obtain titles as undor were not approved, the Aot not being complied with: J. &W. Gilbert, Mangahao; P, 0. Smith, Mangahao. The following applications to transfer were agreed to: H, Moore to J. Monagban, Mangahao; H. AI. Rathbone to E. Morsman, Mangahao; P. M. Budden to H. N. and R. U. Pow-j ler, Mangaone; K. V.SmithloW. Haigh, Mangaone. The application of W.Laing, Ma» kuri, for leave to transfer, was not approved, the conditions not being complied with. The application of Mrs D, Morrison to transfer her Makuri section to G, B. Richardson was postponed for further consideration.

Applications to be allowed; to capitalise were approved as follows: —R. Shaw, Mangahao; T. Parsons, Pararha ;T. Connell, Tarur,iia.;L. V. Kay, Mangahao; W.Bowry, Mangahao ; E. L. Vine?, Mangaone. Messrs C. and W. R, Laug asked for permission to reside with their father, a distance of Bye miles from the'r small run, Kopuranga, until a raid is made tu the laud. No action was taken.

The Board refused to allow Mr B. Kerwins to register a substitute on his selection at Mangaone, MrW, P. Hartstono's lease, Mangahao, was declared forfeited, It was resolved that the cancellation of Mr 11. Prior's interest in his selection at Mangahao should bo resoinded, and that 12 months' extension of time 'in which to effect improvements should be granted, Mr Robertson- (Eoberlsou Bros,) waited upon the Board relative to the improvements on,their selections at Mangaone. TheOommissionerinformed the Board that'he had recently, visited the selections, the improvements upon which ho considered unsatisfactory, It was agreed that the improvements should be effected within six months, otherwise the land would be forfeited, It was resolved to inform Mr J. Bayliss that his explanation as to nonfulfilment of the conditions of .the Act bo far as they related to the improvements upon Ma selection was unsatisfactory, and instructing him further that.unlses he oompletes his improve" ments within a reasonable time,,his interest Yiould be forfeited. ; The Board deoided to forfeit Mr 0, E, Tomson's interest, in his selection at Mangahao, the improvement clause not having been adhered to. Mr ft, Mitchell was allowed'twelve months in whioh to complete his improvements on a selection at Mangahao, or otherwise forfeit his interest.

Proposals to expend accrued thirds were agreed to as sollows:—Eiwitea Road Board, Eketahuna Road Board, Motor'oa Boad Board, Wellington I Road Board, and Upper Mangahao Road Board, Permission to fell the chain of bush on tie Totara Reserve was granted to Mr A. Birnie, conditionally. I. The Commissioner brought tip the question of simultaneous applications for unsnrveyed land, and it was resolved that if two or more persons apply at the same time for the same piece of land, priority of application shall bo determined by ballot, Each applicant will be confined to the piece, of land included iu his application, as defined by the sketch or description thereon. The Board decided to take action towards perfecting the sections of Mr J. M, Miller, Mangahao. Mr W, J, Moore wrote with reference to felling the bush on the Kaiwhata Valley road, and it was decided to forward the letter to the Government, with a recommendation that the work be undertaken at once, The Board adjourned at 3.15 p.m.
