(By Telegraph,—Press Association!^ largo Fire to DuMln. Donedin, Friday, The fine residence of Mr E. B. Cargill, at the Clifls, was destroyed by fire this morning, There had been a party there last night, breaking up at five this morning. The fire was detected in an attached building, at the back of the building used fou laundry purposes. No one was awake at the time except a grandson of Mr Cargill, who gave the alarm, but the fire had then obtained such a hold that the family guests, including Misa Keid, of Elderslie, had only time to escape in their.night clothes. The Salvage Corps and some members of the Oily Fire Brigade went to the scone, but, owing to the absence of a ;. water supply, could do nothing to check the flamea. Borne carpets and a few articles of furniture were saved. The house oost £B,OOO to build, and, furniture £I,OOO, Mr mates his loss at £5,000. The inlP' ance on the house is £1,300, and ' furniture and effects £9OO, both in the National Company,
