ALFREDTON ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Board was held on the 13th inst. Present— Messrs Bebbell (Chairman), Benton, Eli fimitb, Warren, S. M, George. andJ.Boustead,

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

INWARD CORRESPONDENCE, From Survey office, re Tiraumea Valley Road, Erom Surveyor-General, stating Government would give i! 1000 towards bridge over Tiraumea and asking whether the Poard wotild undern take the work and fjnd any balance required. It was resolved that the County be written to, requesting the services of to make a rough csti- '* over Tiraumea mate of cost of Oru, 0 ' - ...;•;. Creek. -; > The clerk was authorised to write to the Surveyor General and elate that the Board are : taking steps to ascertain the cost of a bridge and will write further when the cost; is ascertained.

The Treasury wrote requesting half year's interest on loans, £7B 4s 7d. John Smith requested his thirds to be put in metalling on' the Main Eoad.. -'•■-.' •,.'

The clerk of the County Council wrote re restricting traffic on the aiain road during the coming winter, and re thesite of the toll.

Mr Eli Smith said, that there was some sorub encroaching on.';the Tawataw Eoad, and he thought it ought to be felled. Mr Smith )vns empowered to get the work done at a cost of not more than £3.

Mr Benton was empowered to expend £lB on the Iburana Valley Eoad.

The Clerk was instmcted to app'y for certain thirds for metalling.; It was decided that a further sum of £lO be placed to the metalling of Tiranmea road* '

The Chairman was empowered to get about 14 chains of metalling done, on the District Road, A special order etriking a 7-Bths of a. penny rate for Tawataia loan of £3oo' was conb'rmcaV. •!...■
