The Christohurcli Press critique says of a recent entertainment The company are exceedingly modest in their pretensions, far more so, it may be noted, than thoir talents deserve. The part songs were excellent, the voices being well balanced, and the light and the shade of the compositions were well brought out, This was, perhaps, most clearly illustrated in the opening number, Edgar Allan Poe's poem of "The Bell 3." In this the metallio tones of

the bells and tho various phases of intonation were most admirably reproduced. Of the part songs" Ye Banks and Braes" and "The Old Year is Dying" were specimens of what might be called the true srt of part singing, the beauties of the composi tioos being most markedly brought oul The humourous portion of the programme was admirably done, all entering most thoroughly into the spirit of the pieces, Of these," Sobbing," "Sneezing," and" ProPhundo Basso," may be selected for speoial praise; whilst the imitation of the bagpipes in the Scottish song," Pi* broch o' Donil l)hu," was rendered with suck fidelity as to stir up enthusiasm.
