Oommlttoo Meeting. A meeting of the Works and Fi- * nance Committees of the Borough »' Council was held Inst evening. Present Ctß Huron (Ohairman), Gapper, E, Chamberlain, Muirio and Hessey. Tb Tho following resolutions wore - passed That Mr ltenall be asked to give the Council permission to cut down the blue gum near the concrete culvert; that t'.o Oversew be instructed to butter down two chains of Mr Renall's pit, Renall-street; that the recommendations of the Overseer be given effect to with one exception; ' that tho footpath in Chapel-street and Hall-street, from Pori-y-street to tho drill shed, bo asphalted; that the Works Committee be authorised to cill for teuJem for making Dixon* street from the completed portion to Princes.'Street.
- The overseer reported that he had W attended to cleaning the Hood gales in Chapel, Hessey, and Dixon streets; he hud cleaned .the water tables in Banuisier, Dixon, Queen, William andn'lier streets; about 120 yards of gravel hud been prepared for asphalting; a feoce had been put up at the.brewery culvert and a box to prevent the dirt from rolling in the gutter; Mr Harriett had completed contract to the satisfaction of toe of the Works Comn.ittee; 80 feet of kerliin? had bepn put down in Perry street. He recommended -That the stone be shifted from Mr Eenall's paddock before the .winter sets in ; that tho bank at Mr Renall's gravel pit bo Imttered down, He also reported that Messrs Feist and Soar! were agreeable to the foo path being asphalted in front ol their premises, Accounts amounting to £152 os were passed for payment. The collector reported that rates Were coining in satisfactorily.
