CAPITAL FUNDS OF ESTATES placed in thn Public Trust Office guaranteed by the Colony. 1, By "The Public Trust Office Acta Amendment Act, 1891," tho Culony now guarantees tho integrity of the capital funds of properties placed in tho Public Trust Office where there is no direction for the investment of such funds, or where there is no other direotion for their investment than generally, at tho option of the Public Trustee, in General Government Securities of New Zealand or in mortgage of real estate within the Colony. '2, The Colony also guarantees on such capital funds a fixed rate of interest, to be credited quartorly, free of all office charges, to the properties frum • which tho funds arise. 3. The value of this guarantee will obvious when it is considered that it is—(a.) The guarantee of tho Colony aL'ainat loss from investments in bad or insufficient securities. (b.) The guarantee ol the Colony against loss from delay in tho investment of moneys. (c.) The guarantee of the Colony that the interest fixed by Ordor in Council shall be regularly and punctually paid, freo of all charees of tho Public Trust Office. 4. Tho rates ofiutorest to be allowed by tho Public Trust Office on the Capl till Funds for investment aro 5 per cent on any amount up to £3,000, and 4 per cent on the amount in excess of f.3,000. and these rates, which are allowed free of all charges, will result in an income of—£6o a year from LI,OOO, or 5 per cent 160 „ 3,000, or 5 percent 190 „ 4,000, or 4| per cent 230 „ 5,000, or 48-sths „ „ 6,000, or 4| per cent and so on.
