CARTERTON HAM AND EWE FAIR.
Tho annual fair, in connection with tho W. and E.C.P. Although fewer rams were entered than last year by some 200, the quality lyas bettor, and total proceeds exceeded any previous year. Aj the commencement of the sale Mr Wood,' by pthoiity of the" stewafd?, announced that the Society intended during the poming year erecting fresh yards throughout, and that speoial provision would then be made for the Bam and Une Fair, and the convenieuce of both buyers' and auctioneers. . The stewards ic attendance were Mossrs H, Draithwaite and J. Monorief, who with Mr, li. W. Dorset, the Secretary, did all > in their power to facilitate the busk ness. In Lincoln Rams Mr Do McMasterwasto the fore with ft prime lot of 00 2-tooths of own breeding, which excited keen . competition, selling from 3 to 10£ guineas, with an average of about 5 guineas. Messrs P. C. Tbrelkeld, W. C. Buchanan, Walker and Sutherland/and'o(her vendors hgd numerous mries, wljicli 'sbltj-'at froiji"'!' fj}6'guiiieas.' Allen had a line of 20 2 and ,4-tooth* Romuoy Marsh ewes which sold ae anaverage of 8 guineas.
