R.M. COURT.
MASTHRTQN-FBJPAY. (Before Colonel Roberts, R,M,) Wife Desertion. George Douglas, keeper, was charged on the information of his wife, Gcorgina Douglas, with unlawful desertion, Mr Pownall appeared for the plaintiff and Mr Beard for the defendant, ' Mr Pownall requested that the case be hoard in camera, as there was certain evidenoo to ho adduced which was not fit to bo brought before the public, Mr Beard saw no reason for the adoption of such a course. He did not wish any dirty linen to be washed, Mr Pownall said it was necessary from the nature of the case that certain ciolicate evidence oi a domestic kind should be adduced.. It was eventually deoided that the case be heard in camera, and the Court was therefore cleared, Mr Pownall then briefly slated the circumstances oi the case, which were of a most singular nature, He asked for the ruling of the Court as to whether the evidence he proposed to adduce would constitute a desertion, Mr Beard took exception to the evidence. It was not a proper thing, he maintained, to constitute this Court into a Divorce Court. His Worship could not give judgment upon tbc : evidence proposed to bo put in, After some argument His Worship decided to reserve his deoision on the points suggested by Mr Pownall, and the case wsb therefore adjourned.
