DEATH OF CARDINAL MANNING.

London, January 18, Cardinal Manning is sinking and the Sacrament has been administered to him, January 14, Cardinal Manning died at 8 o'clock this morning, ■• [Manning, His Eminence, Henry Edward, Cardinal, Archbishop of Westminister, was b, JBQB. Educated at Harrow and Bajliol Coll., Oxford. Graduated (1830), and became Fellow of Merton Coll, Rector ofLayingtgnana! Graffhani, Sussex (1884-40); Archdeacon of Chichester (1840-51). Resigned these preferments (1851) and joined the Church »f Rome, He was ordained a priest of the Koman Oatholio Ohuroh (1851)! and appointed rector of St. Helen's and St Mary's, Bayswater, whjre ho founded a, congregation entitled the '• Oblates of St Charles Borromeo." The degree of D.D. was conferred upon him at Pome. On the death of Cardinal Wiseman be succeeded him as Archbishop of Westminster (1865); Cardinal (1875).
