SPECIAL SETTLEMENT ASSOCIATION.

Fahiatua Small Farmer's , Association No. 1. The large hall of the Commercial Hotel at Pabiatua was full to the door on Tuesday ni»ht at eight o'olook, the hour fixed for the meeting of those persons who had signed the list that had beea lying at the Star ollice for the past two or three weeks, Mr Kemper was voted to the chair, and briefly stated the object of the meeting, which he said would be explained by Mr F. Greville, who had promoted the undertaking.

Mr F. Grevillo said he had been induced to insert the advertisement calling the nieoting by the fact that he had beeu besieged by applications from persons who had been too late to join the Association formed at Mangatainoka, To enable those present to thoroughly understand the position and what was required of those persons who desired to form special settlement associations, he would read the regulations which had just beeu gazetted, and also the rules suggested for adoption by such associations, and a circular letter from the Linds aud Survey Department, dated December Ist,

A formal resolution that a special settlement association be formed was then put and carried. The. election of officers was then proceeded with, and resultod as follows :—Chairman, MrG. H. Kemper; treasurer, Mr Wakeman ; Secretary, Mr Gould. Committee: Messrs Crewe, Kennedy, Burrows, John Sterling, Henry Manns, George Ma • thews, W, J, Bennett, It was resolved that the association be called the Pabiatua Small Farmer's Association, and about sixty or seventy of those present then paid their deposit of 10s each, At the close of the meeting of the association, the newly appointed committee met and transacted some formal business, It was decided to give those who had not paid up till Friday evening next, at 7 p.m to make tho necessary deposit, after which the names of tnose persona who have not paid will be struck off. A vote of thanks to tha convenor of the meeting and the Chairmau concluded the procecdings.-Pahiatua Sfar,
