The inquest into the circumstances surrounding the mysterious poisoning of somo 80 wedding guests at Pallia- A tua, was to have been resumed to-day, It seems, howover, aays the Now Zealand Times, that a number of the principal witnesses are still too enfeebled to be able to give ovidenoe, and it Imb been therefore deemed expedient to still further adjourn for a fortnight the formal inquisition, Skilled witnesses living at a .distance wore informed by telegram of this intention so that no inconvenience will be caused by this unavoidable change of purpose, Inspector Thomson and Detective Horbert are still absent from town endeavouring to probe tho mystery to the bottom. It is just probable that there may be mere in it than meote the eye, 'JL'he colonial analyst (Mr W. Skey) is busy with the analysis of the contents of the late Mr P, Dickson's stomach, but, or course, the results cannot bo disclosed until the Coroner in due course calls for them. We understand, however, tlmt the latest theory started in Pahiatua, viz., that the poisonwnsr. contained in'some lamb partaken ok. - by the unfortunate people, is not ■ borne out by such facts as tho experts have as yet arrived at, in short, this ■theory may be altogether dismissed from mind. The conviotion rather deepens that it is a serious affair, trite though the phrase rpay appear, All the symptoms point to the conclusion that the poison was either arsenic or antimony, but in what form or mixture partaken of remains; to be stated, .
