A special meeting of the Senate of the University of Sew Zealand was held yesterday for the purpose of considering the examiners' report of the medical examination for 1891, lately concluded. After a perusal of all the documents the Senate conferred the degree of Doctor of Medicine on H. C. Barclay, M.8.C.H.8., and G. A. Copland, M.8.C.H.8. Degrees of Bachelor of Surgery were conferred on W. W. Griffin, A, Hendry, B.A, J F. Menzies, J. A. Newall, 8.A., and E. J. Roberts. M. fampbell, B. Church, C. J. Little, K. McAdam, and M. vV. Boss passed the second professional examination. D. H. J. Black passed first professional and P. Andrew, J- L. Gregg, D. Black, W. J. Hialop, J. M. Matthews, and Emily H. Escape of FrUonertBluff, Wednesday. By the arrival of the steamer Herald from Westport, news is to hand ol the escape of two prisoners named MsGuire and Middle ton from Milford Sonndonthe 18th inst. The prisoners escaped to Lake Ada and there smashed four boats, two belonging to tha Government and two to Mr Sutherland, and took the Union S. S. Company's dingy Ohau with them. It is supposed they would -make for Te Anau.but nothing farther was heard of them up to the Herald's departure.
