Oamaru SCnniolpal Debentures.
Oamaru, Saturday-. The Oamaru Borough Counqti have ileoided to offer English bondholders four per cent for the remainder of the currency of the municipal debentures and instructions have been given to pay on this basis coupons facing due on the 10th January. Tkm rate of interest is bat>ed on the revenue received from the securities pledged to bondholders, which, owing to the depression and heavy rates,bas steadily fallen for years. The Mail states that four per cent does not exhaust the Council's ability lo pay, Bri4 questions the wisdom and honesty Or' the proceeding.
