She Love! Another.

A suicide of a most distressing and dramatic character took place in Paris on October 24. A young lady of 17, named Pauline Menard, was married early in the day to M. Decointre, 86 years of age. At the wedding breakfast, and throughout the day—even, indeed, during the ball with which the festivities wound tip—the young bride appeared to be perfectly happy and thoroughly enjoying herself, not missing a sip.cr'e dance. At half past eleven at night her mother conducted the bride to her apartment. Half an hour later, when the husband followed, he found his young wife writhing in agonj on the bed. She had just strength enough to tell him she had poisoned herself with laudanum, as she had sworn to be faithful to another man, whem she loved. A letter found in her handwriting, which ran as follows :—" My dear Henry,—l beg you a thousand times to forgive me for the wrong which I am now about to do you. I know you love me sincerely. I know it was wrong of me to allow him to visit me. I love you also; but I love another, to whom I have sworn to be faithful. In marrying you I was no longer able to carry out my promise without doing you a grievous wrong, and this I would not entertain for a moment, because you are a honourable and good man. I commit suicide so that I shall ODly belong to death. Forgive me once more, and also ask my dear parents to forgive me, for I love them with all my heart.— Pauline," M.
