The winner of any handicap of the advertised value of LSO after declaration of weights to carry a penalty of five pounds ; the winner of any handicap of the advertised value of LIOO after declaration of weights to carry a penalty ot seven pounds. Penalties to be cumulative. Hack and Hurdle races excepted. RULES and REGULATIONS— All races to be run under the rules of racing. In case of a protest the same must be lodged with the Secretary within 15 minutes after the race has been run, with a deposit of £2, such deposit to be forfeited if the protest be found to be frivolous or vexatious. No scratching of horses allowed, unless through the Secretary, and 30 minutes before the time of starting, No entry will be received for any race except under the conditions that all claims, disputes, and objections arising shall be decided by the Stewards, or whom they may appoint, and their decision upon all points shall be final. All Nominations, Entrances, Acceptances, etc., accompanied by the necessary amount, must be addressed to the Seoretary, Masterton. No entry will be received after the hour named on any pretence whatever. Any Jockey riding, except in colours, will be fined 2 sovs. The amount for second horse will be deducted from the advertised amount of stakes The winner of Selling Hack Race to be Bold immediately after the race for 20 sovs any surplus to be divided between the Club and the second horse. Horses walking over will reoeive 50 per cent, of the stakes. A Hack shall mean a horse that has

never, daring this racing season, started for or entered for, weight-for-age, or handicap at time of starting, and has not been nominated for Derbies, Champagnes, or Guineas, to be ran for this racing season, Hack Races excepted. NOMINATIONS— Nominations for all Handioaps [to be sealed and addressed to the Secretary] close at Masterton on Wednesday, December 2, at 8 p.m., or on arrival of train from Wellington. Weight* to be declared on Wed» nesday, December 9, at 6 p.m. Entries, including Maiden Hack Race, and Selling Hack Race, and acaeptances on Saturday, 19th December, at 9 p.m, or on arrival of train fom Wellington. Nominations for Consolation Handicap to be made to the Secretary 15 minutes after the Telegraph Stakes is run Weights will be declared 15 minutes after nominations have closed. Acceptances will close 15 minutes after the weights have been declared. The enclosure opposite the Grand Stand is reserved for members and their families only upon production of ticket.
