The o*ner of Master Agnes announces in the advertising columns of this journal for the third year in succession that the son of Cassi vellaunug and Fair Agnes will stand this season at White's Line, Carterton, Wairarapa, at ttie fee of of sgs. Master Agnes' tabulated pedigree reads as under : His sire, C.wsivellaunus (who is now dead), only raced twice in England, and that was as a two year old when he won both stakes he started for at Newmarket. In addition to Master Agnes, he has Bircd in this colony Envious, Jealousy, Billy, Moss Rose, Puritan and other good racers. Cassivellaunus' sire Caractacus won the Derby at Epsom in 1862, and his dam Campanile, is a daughter of the emperor of stallions, Stockwell. Fair Agnes, the dam of Master Agnes, is a daughter of the imported bay Middleton horse St Aubyn, and is out of Phoebe, the maternal ancestress of so many good horses including Pinfire's d m, Queen of the South, Para"Whenua's dam, Countess, Maca s dam, Raupo; Wolverine's dam, Tangi, aud Sinking Fund who ran a dead heat with Mativ for the Dunedin Cup of 187!>. Phoebe was a daughter of the King of Australian sires, Sir Herculeß. Fair Agnes in addition to Master Agnes, has thrown another good hurdle racer in Blagnesia and a fairish sprinter in St Agnes, Rose A'Bouheur and her sons. Maroro, Chokebore, and Badsworth, were all above the average on the Turf. As a two year old Master Agnes won the Spring Nursery Handicap at the C.J.C. Metropolitan Meeting and he followed this up by getting home in front of a field of five in the Two year old Handicap, but was disqualified on the ground of a cross. At the C.J.C. Autumn Meeting he ran third to Water Nymph and Sir Belvidere in the Champagne Stakes. Tf RMS-Single Mares, £5 ss. Groomage Fee, ss. Two or more Mares as per agreement. Ths Masher is a beautiful dark bay, with black points, haa immense bone, and plenty of hair, is extremely good-tempered, and has splendid style and action, bred by Mr R. Dagg, Masterton, and is out of his prize mare Grace, by Lord Nelson. Grace cut of Jenny, by Young Frince Charley. Jenny was bred by Mr A. Coc'tburn, Manaia, and is out of Jess by Young Lofty. Grace was only exhibited once when°she gained first as a two year old. Jenny, Masher's grand dam was only exhibited three times, gaining three first and two special prizes. Lord NeUon was wellknown to breeders in the AVairarapa, and eained many honours in the show- ring, not only here, but in the South Island. The Masher gained first prize in Masterton in 1885 also Mr Lawrence's special of £5 for the best foal by Lord Nelson, and in 1886 he gained fii-st at Carterton. It is needless to say any more as the above named horses were so well and favorably known in the Wairarapa, is in itself a sufficient guarantee to breeders. The Masher will travel to Greytown on Tuesdays aod Masterton on Thursdays, and the rest of the week at his owner's stables, Park Road, Carterton.
