Bt Telegraph.— Press Association. Chbistchdbch, December 1. The Governor and Countess of and Buite, the Hons Messrs and Bolieston, and Mr Scobie Mackenzie, M.9.K., arrived at Christchurch by to-night's express. The railway station at Sefton seven miles north of Bangiora, was burnt down this morning, The origin of the fire is not known. The safe was burst open by the heat in several places, and all its contents, including £SO in cash, were destroyed. The building, which was valued at £l5O, was not insured. Mr B. J. Beddon, no relation to the Minister for Public "Works, but a recent arrival from Home, has purchased the Fairlie Creek station and stock at the cosc of £40,000. Dcnedin, December 1. Henry Clark, who has been chairman of the Bruce County since the coming into operation of the Act, was re-elected to-day. The Clutha and Bruce Counties failed to receive any tender for the various works on offer. The members of both Councils attribute this to the work provided by thq Government to the unemployed.
