Suicide through Love.

Mr Artbnr C. Langbam, deputy coroner for South wark, held an inquest at Guy's Hospital on Friday on the body of William Henry Viner, aged sixty three years, physician and surgeon lately residing at 87, Belinda road, Bermondsey, who committed suicide by taking poison on Tuesday nigbt. A police constable stated that at 11.50 on the night of the 22nd ult., he was on duty in Zampa road, South Bermondsey, and whilst uaßsmg the deceased's private door which was at the corner of the street, he saw the deceased come staggering out and fall insensible on the pavement. and put him on the bed. He then sent tor medical assistance Inspector Paine deposed thnt about three o'clock on the morning of the 3rd tilt, he went to 87, Belinda road. On the surgery table was a letter in the deceased's handwriting as follows : "To my sweetest and prettiest ot lasses. Oh how I loved you, my darling of darlings, my prettiest and loveliest of Jessies, before I died.— Vineb." Jessie Blake, a stationer's assistant, stated that she last saw the deceased alive on Monday morning at half past ten. He then seemed very much depressed, and told the witness that lie loved her very much indeed, adding that if anything parted them he would commit suicide. She had written him a letter a few weeks ago saying that, owing to the difference in their ages she wished ho would forget her. She had only kept up the friendship because she thought he would otherwise kill himself. Dr. John Henry Bryan, house physician, said that death was due to the deceased having taken prussic acid. The jury returned a verdict of death while temporarily i nsane.
