Taukanga, November 22.
A woman named Jones was found dead yesterday at the bottom of the embankment 'in Eighth Avenue amongst some briars. Her neok was broken. She had been missing sinoe Thursday. At the inquest held yes* terday afternoon the verdict was accidental death.

Chbistohorch, November 22. About noon to-day a woman was * found dead at Hagley Park. She was apparently about 85 years of age and wore two wedding rings and a keeper. There was no sign of violence, and she is not yet identified.
Peculiar Accident
Oahabu, November 22.
A boy named George met with an accident at the A. and P. Show on Friday. He was passing behind a shooting gallery when a bullet passed through the shield and lodged in his stomach just below the ribs. He was taken to the hospital when an operation was performed for the extraction of the bullet.

Auckland, November 22. At a meeting of the committee of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Journalists' Institute, strong objection was taken to the regutatio n providing for the use of " flimsy" paper for receiving press messages, and it was decided to telegraph to the Postmaster-General protesting against the rule, and also to telegraph to the Council of the Institute asking theia to move to have the regulation abolished.

Oamaru, November 22. The police have received information that a large fire has taken place at the township of Kurow, 40 miles inland. Thirle's general store and house, Waddel's store and house, Delargy'fl hotel and public hall, London's shop, and Ftrr's dwelling house, were totally destroyed. The fire commenced at 0.30 on Saturday night. The insurances are not it is said the New Zealand Company loses £I9OO, and the British £SOO. There are also other insurances.
Bis Bxcolleacy. Dunrdin, November 22. His Excellency and the Countess of Onslow reached Dnnedin on Saturday night by train. There was no formal reception, but the Mayor, City Councillors, and Ma.H.li., were present. The Mayor extended a welcome to the visitors, and expressed the regret felt at the Governor's approaching departure from the colony.
