The Jubilee Plunger.

People who are acquainted with the Jubilee Plunger, or "Jubilee Juggins,'' as some of his friends facetiously describe him, are highly amused by the widely copied announcement that he is earning his living as an insurance agent. Surely a sarcastic witling has devised this story, protests a London correspondent of a Birmingham contemporary, who goeson to say that Mr Benzon has been living down at East Mousley for the last few weeks, spending his time fishing, By the way, be is a very good and successful angler. He has no need to depend upon insurance agencies for a living. His future is provided for. Some person more provident than himself has secured to him a regular income for life of seven pounds a week, payable on Saturdays. Nor ia this the end of his resources. In his palmy days he lent a friend £lb\oCo. The friend was an honest man, and would uot have borrowed the money had he not known that he would be able torepay it on the death of a relative—eitber his uncle or his father, I forget which. This relative died about ten days ago, and Mr Benzon will no doubt draw his £16,000 when the legal processes are complete. Despite his book full of experiences in the art of throwing money away, Mr Benzon has not yet wandered into habits of thrift. If he had another quarter of a million to squander it would go as easily as the quarter of a million that he got rid of in two years. To illus trate his survival of improvidence I may mention that he has already anticipated the £16,000 that is coming to him as repayment of a debt. Knowing that the amount was sure to come, he has borrowed on the strength of it five or six thousand pounds atusuiious interest.
