The following blocksof Crown Land in the Wellington district are being prepared for settlement : Waimarino Block.—About 17,000 acres, situated in the Makotuku ', Survey District, adjacent to the Pipi-riki-Obakuno Road. Puketoi-»Vaewepa Block.—lo,ooo acres, situated adjacent to the Hawke's > Bay District boundary and the Middle Makuri Block in the Makuri and Mount Cerberjs Survey District. Mangatainoka K. Block—Booo acres, situated in the Mangahao ani Tararua Survey Districts, and lying west and north of tha Wellington Special Settlement Block No. 1. Mount. Baker 810ck.—2500 acres, situated in the Mangaone Survey District, south-east of and adjacent to the Mangaone Block Settlements. Other blocks open ior selection are as follows : Middle Makuri-Puketoi Block.— Blocks VI, VII, X, XIV, and XV, Makuri Survey Districts, comprising 8,844 acres. First-class land. Cash price, £1 to £1 Ta 6d ; deterred payment price, £1 5s to £1 4s 4Ad • and perpetual lease rental, Is to Is 4id per acre. Access is from Pahiatua by the Toritea road to the Tiraumea river, thence by horse road to Makuri, 22 miles from Puhiatua, or by Tiraume* andTe Anpnpa roads -about 20 miles. South Puketoi Block. First and second class lands.—Blocks IV, VI, and VII, Puketoi Survey District, comprising 6,060 acrea. Cash price 17s 6d to £1 10s ; deferred payment price, £ 1 Is lOd to £1 7s 6d; and perpetual lease rental, 10£ d to Is 6d per acre. Access is from Eketahuna by Alfredton-Tiraumea road, 18 miles, while the northern and Western parts can be reached from Pahiatua by the Tiraumea road and surveyed lines—about fourteen miles, half the distance being over formed roads. North Puketoi Block. First class land. Block* 111, V, VI, and XVI, Makuri Survey District, 2,200 acres; cash price, 17s 6d to £1 5s ; deferredpayment price, £1 Is to JEI lis 3d ; and perpetual lease rental, 10|d to la 3d per acre. East of the Woodville-Tiraumu'a Settlement. Access from Woodville is along the Masterton Road to the Ngaawipurua Bridge, thence by the Tiraumea Valley and Makairo Roads to the Western boundary of the block. From Pahiatua the approach is by the Tiraumea North, the Tiraumea Valley, the Makairo, and the WoodvilleAohanga Roads. The distance from the two towns to the western boun(Jary is about 10 miles, and when the County works in hand are completed, it will be possible to take drays to within a mile of the block, and at present by following the bed of the Makairo, horses can bo taken within two miles. r%)m the north then* are no less that) tluee routes available from Kumeroa, —viz., first by the bridle track road which is formed to within a few chains of the provincial boundary; second, by thcTotara Road which is formed three miles for dray-traffic, but horses can be taken about three miles further; third by the Otawhao Road, which is partly formed to within sit miles of the north-east part of the block.—Examiner,
