Kair Agnes, the dam of Master Agnes, hi a daughter of the imported hay Middleton horns St Aubyn, and is out of Pbcebe, tbo maternal ai.cestresß of so many good horses inelnding I'infire's d m, Queen of th« South, ParaWhenua's dam, Countess, Mac* s dam, Raupo; Wolverine's dan), Tangi, and Sinking Fund who ran a dead heat with Mata for tho Dunedin Cup of 1879. Phoebe was a daughter of the King of Australian sires, Sir Hercules. Fair Agnes in addition to Master Agnes, haß thrown another good hurdle racer in Magnesia and a fairish sprinter in St Agnes, Rose A'Uonheur anil her sons. Maroro, Chokebore, and Badsworth, wore all abovo the aye rag o on the Turf. As a two year old Master Agnes won the Spring Nursery Handicap at the C.J.C. Metropolitan Meeting and he followed this up by getting home in front of a field of five in the Two year old Handicap, but was disqualified on the ground of a cross. At the C.J.C. Dagg, Masterton, and is out of his prize mare Grace, by Lord Nelson. Grace cut of Jenny, by Young Trince Charley. Jenny was bred by Mr A. Coc'tburn, Mnnaia, and is out of Jess by Young Loftv. Grace was only exhibited once when she gained first as a two y.;ar old. Jenney Masher's grand, dam was only exhibited three times, gaining three first aud two special prizes. Lord Nelson was wellknown to breeders in _ the Wairarapa, and gained many honours in the show ring, not only here, but in the South Island. Thf Masher gained first prize in Masterton in 1885 also MrLawrence's special of £5 for the best foal by Lord Nelson, and in 18}& he gained first at CartcrtoH. jt is* needless to say any more as the above named hordes were so well and favorably known in the Wairatapa, is in itself a sufficient guarantee to breeders.
